Does anyone know whatever happened to him? Is he still playing music?

Well, all I have heard about Robbie is NOT good news.
He may still be playing music, but he has never really sincerely left behind his jones, and actually, is still standing on his laurels about having played with Kingfish when trying to impress new people. He did some time in prison
(at the same time/place as Buddy Miles) in the late 80's got out, swore he was cleaning up, but went out & blew his tour advance money on --- guess what, more white stuff. At that point he was left behind by whatever act had taken him in to give him another chance.
Last I heard (about a year and a half ago) a friend had encountered him living in the TL here in SF.
Sad story, but they say once a junkie always one... does not seem a lot different here.
I'll say one thing for Weir- he sure takes a lyricist for a whore"- Robert Hunter

That's really sad news. I loved his playing with Kingfish and had hoped that he would "come back".
uch a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there...

Saw him playing with Kingfish back in '85 or '86. He did fine, but didn't add as much to the band as when Bobby sat in with them ....

Wow, I haven't been to this site in a while and gave up on anyone knowing anything about him ... thanks so much for the reply, IG! Even if it is fairly bad news ... which, to divulge, I'm not surprised, yet still saddened to hear. Specifically, I played in a band with him in the early 90s. I posted this because he came to mind when I came across some tapes of songs we wrote as a band and individually to bring TO the band (no matter the name of the band; it was a short-lived one). Great guitarist, truly, but he was struggling then. I was hoping to hear something different ... Thanks again.
