Born in 1943, John Cipollina started playing guitar at the dawn of Rock & Roll. He is best known as a founding member of the legendary 60's San Francisco band Quicksilver Messenger Service. During his brilliant 25 year career, this unique talent performed and recorded with dozens of other bands, including Terry & The Pirates, Thunder & Lightning, Dinosaurs, The Grateful Dead, Zero, Copperhead, Problem Child, Man, John Lee Hooker, Link Wray, and Paul Butterfield. John passed away in 1989 at the age of 45.

His guitar's voice to this day stands unique in its tone and quality, and serves as an integral part of the soundtrack of the psychedelic era. This one hour video biodocumentary is a tribute to an incredible musician - who was also a personable, loveable, multi-talented man.

Archival concert footage is interspersed with reflections from Bill Graham, Jerry Garcia, Nicky Hopkins, Martin Fierro, Merl Saunders, Dan Healy, Pete Sears, Nick Gravenites, David Freiberg, Peter Albin, Greg Elmore, Barry "The Fish" Melton, Spencer Dryden, and Paul Kantner, as well as members of John's family.
