The GDF Bookstore was one of the cornerstones of the new GDF Store when we opened on Thanksgiving weekend in 1995. It was great being able to recommend essential reading material to folk who were scattered all over the country, and may not have been able to find the titles nearby. But for a long time now, the book business has changed.
I like Amazon as much as anyone, but from a retailer's point of view, it doesn't make much sense to go up against a billion dollar company who can afford to lose money on every order they process. As a result, book sales have fallen to a trickle. We have done OK when authors such as David Gans, Blair Jackson, and Wendy Weir have personally signed the books we've sold, but that only goes so far.
So, my plan is to close the bookstore, and recommend titles that are available on Amazon. That way, you'll get the best possible price, and we don't have to buy the books!
In the meantime, please visit our book selections. We will be slashing prices, and removing items as they run out.
If you find a title you're interested in, and it looks like we haven't cut the price yet, drop us a line, and if we have any left in stock, I'm sure we'll reduce the price.
Thanks for the years we've been honored to serve you,
